If you've been hanging around the Charliemadison Community for a while, you know that part of our mission is to give back 5% of our sales to organizations that support military service members and their families. It's our way of not only honoring the three generations of my extended family who have served in the Armed Forces, but also to honor the military community that I was so lucky to be a part of while my husband served 20 years in the U.S. Navy.
Since we started this tradition over three years ago, we've given back to some pretty amazing organizations - Operation Purple Camps for military kids, The Duskin & Stephens Foundation, and our very first donation to Milspo Project. And boy, that first donation - just $50 - seemed like such a small amount to give. But that donation to Milspo Project connected me with the most amazing military spouse entrepreneur community that I am so grateful to be a part of today!
Our 2017 donation is our biggest yet and I know the reason it's all possible - YOU! Our wonderful community of gals (and a few guys) who wear our meaningful bracelets and gift them to the favorite gals in their lives. Because of your support, we were able to give back over $3,000 to our latest organization - Holbrook Farms Retreat.
If you don't have a box of tissues nearby, go grab one before you read the rest of this post........it's OK, I'll wait.
Holbrook Farms is a nonprofit charity located in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota and each year they host the Survivors of Heroes Retreats - dedicated to providing all-expense paid getaways for military survivors, widows and families who have lost their loved ones in military service. The experience provides survivors an opportunity to get away and spend time with those who have gone through similar tragedies, helping them through their grieving process. The vision of Holbrook Farms Retreat is to help these survivors restore balance, connect with nature, discover what lights them up, and ensure they are never alone.
